lil carb Whiskey Sour

Watch me make my fav cocktail!

My all time favorite drink in the entire world is the Whiskey Sour! Whenever I am out it is my drink of choice. The problem with creating this drink at home is you're probably thinking you need a fancy sour mix and a simple syrup... but you don't! The beauty of this recipe is the ingredients are SO simple but this drink has all of the complex flavors from a signature whiskey sour drink but without the extra calories, carbs, and heartburn inducing sour mix. You will be pleasantly surprised with how amazingly simple and tasty this drink is!!!  I get so excited about this drink because it is truly spectacular!!!

lil carb Whiskey Sour- makes 1 drink
1 shot of your favorite whiskey or bourbon
1 shot of cold water
juice of 1 lemon
2 quick squirts of your favorite liquid sweetener--I use Skinny Girl Stevia-------->
Ice cubes
lemon peel or lemon slice for garnish*

Fill a rocks glass with ice.
Add 4-5 ice cubes to a shaker.
Add in the whiskey, water, lemon juice, and liquid sweetener.
Shake well.
Strain into your glass, garnish with lemon peel or slice and sip away!

*Maraschino cherry- You can garnish with a cherry as well just keep in mind-- 2 grams of carbs per cherry!

ENJOY!

lil carb Margarita

Happy Cinco De Mayo!  Why not celebrate with a homemade Margarita?! I know what you're thinking- you need a high carb, high calorie margarita mix, some tequila and a lime wedge. But you're wrong!
There is an easier way!!... And the clouds part and the sun shines down... ha!
Use my recipe to create a simple and tasty margarita right at home - any time you are craving one.

lil carb Margarita- makes 1 drink
-Rocks Glass
-Shaker

Ice- about 10-12 cubes
1 shot of tequila
juice of 1 lime
1/4 tsp orange extract
1 quick squirt of liquid Stevia (I use Skinny Girl)
seltzer water

margarita salt (optional)
lime slice for garnish and to wet your glass rim

Use the lime garnish to moisten the outer rim of your rocks glass.
Dip in margarita salt. (watch my video to see how I avoid getting salt in the bottom of your glass)
Add 5-6 ice cubes to your glass.
Then add another 5-6 ice cubes to your shaker.
To the shaker add in tequila, lime juice, orange extract, and stevia (or liquid sweetener of your choice).
Shake well.
Pour into your rocks glass and top off with a little seltzer water.
**If you use a bigger glass your drink will be more watered down with seltzer.**
Garnish with a lime and ENJOY!

lil carb Infused Gin & Tonic

Click my YouTube link to see how I made this refreshing cocktail!

It finally feels a little like Spring! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter holiday!  I definitely did and with the weather finally warming up I immediately started dreaming about summer cocktails!  If you go to a restaurant and order a fruity, slushy cocktail chances are it has more carbs than you think. I started experimenting making my own versions at home where I could customize the flavors and carbs to my liking.  I started last summer infusing vodka and gin and it is a lot simpler and tastier than I ever imagined! Trust me, you will want to try it too! The measurements don't have to be perfect and the longer the gin sits the more flavor will infuse. Who doesn't love a lil carb summer cocktail!?

lil carb Infused Gin
1 handle of gin
Big bunch of fresh Thyme
Big bunch of fresh Rosemary
1 cucumber, sliced

Add the thyme, rosemary, and cucumber slices to a handle of gin.
Place in the freezer for 7-10 days.

After that time pour out the gin into another container- I used a left over 2 liter bottle.
I wrote on it in sharpie what the alcohol was and what it was flavored with and stored in the freezer for whenever I was ready to make my next cocktail.

Infused Gin & Tonic- Makes 1
1-2 shots of infused gin
Diet tonic water
Lime juice & Slice
Ice

Fill up a tall glass with ice.
Add in your desired amount of infused gin.
Top off with diet tonic.
Squeeze in about 1 tsp lime juice and garnish with a lime slice.

I may or may not have taken a few sips from this before I snapped the photo...
